I need to apologize I have not been doing my job as far as the posting for the forum.
As far as things go right now. It all started with the heat . We had very very high heat mixed with heavy humidity and those don't mix with resin..its kinda nice for the silicone.
Once you put a retarder in it so you have time to get all the air bubbles out.
But once it starts to cure o boy it goes fast. The cure time saved me about 4 hours for every mold. And that is a big deal. We are talking 2 hours instead of the 6 to 8 hours for normal cure time. Like I said that is big.
Now for the resin . All the things good for silicone
Not so much for the resin.
I spent time in South Carolina with a couple years doing resin . And did not have to many issues. But at that time I was doing mostly small pours and it was not real bad .
Not great either. I did spend alot of time trying to mix up some very wild mixes. Some I would not even care to mention. All though I did one with some acitone
That worked good after finding the right percentage to use in the mixture.
It should not have worked but it did.
Now I spend more time trying to get good parts than blowing up the house.
And no I did not manage to blow it up.
Now I can honestly say this has been the worst year I have ever seen with resin.
Between greg and myself we have thrown away a lot and I mean a lot of parts and body's. I would not be surprised if there was a few thousand dollars. Of product. ( retail price ) but even worse the lost time.
I feel very bad for one person that we work with. Just trying to get product for him has been so horrible . He has been very layed back about it so far. And I know he needs to get product sold.
Most of the stuff I get awsome molds but can maybe get a couple of good parts out of every ten or so I cast. And I spend about 10 to 12 hours a day trying to get good parts . So very frustrating that i have to have about 15 different things going so that i can change it up just so it does not turn into wall art . The good thing is when it's cooled off and life returns to normal there are going to be some very cool items. There is a couple things I personally think there will be a waiting list for.
Then we had the great photobucket issue that has killed me as far as posting on this forum .
I had fotki before and had no real issues other then it took a lot more keystrokes then photobucket.
And photobucket was very easy to use with my phone. Fotki when I switched back could not even post with my phone or my tablet. Even with every app that i tried all turned out to be bad news for me.
Now on my computer no problem except I can barely get to it. So that makes it hard . So very hard to do my job. Of keeping this forum up to date. So if anyone wants to post there projects even some styrene have at it so there new content for all to see. That would make it very nice to see. ( you to Al ) . And I don't care what . If your mopar. Chevy. Ford. Pontiac. Etc. Etc. I know some of you have been casting and some trying to learn . Let's see them and don't be worried about what they look like. I could post some photos that you would be embarrassed to show and I have been doing it for awhile . I know that greg makes parts that makes modelhaus Look real bad and I have some of there products here that really is not so great. And I have some here that are very nice. And I can say none of us started out making top quality from the very first part. If I get time ill show some stuff that i did last week that a 5 year old could probably do a nicer job with. So don't worry about what it looks like . Let's see some.
This is just a brief update and I'll see what I can do to start showing more for you . Thanks Rocky
