Be sure to check out the Decal Pro FX site. There are a lot of steps to making a decal here but you can apply the image to decal paper and create a waterslide decal. This is the only other option I know of to create decals that are white, gold and silver rather buying a ALPS printer. You will need a laser printer for this kit. You will also have the ability to create temporary tattoos too. This company also sells a kit that can help you create photo etch parts. It is really used for making electronics boards.
